Council Oak Bells Featured at Handbell Festival Conference Worship
Our very own Council Oak Bells rang Sunday, June 22 as part of a morning worship service at "A Capital Carillon", a festival conference presented by Area IX (Texas and Oklahoma) of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. The event was held June 19-22 at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin and consisted of both a youth and adult festival. There were classes taught by leading clinicians, concerts, reading sessions, displays . . . and much more! Carla David, Director of Handbell Ministry at First Church, taught two classes during the adult part of the conference.
In attendance at "A Capital Carillon" were hundreds of handbell ringers and directors from Texas & Oklahoma. Those in attendance at worship Sunday morning were truly impacted by the music rung by Council Oak Bells. "It was beautiful," said one participant. "We really appreciate your taking the time to come here this morning." Another worshipper commented, "I was really touched by the music and the attitude projected by the ringers. It truly added a lot to the service. Thank you!"
The Council Oak Bell team enjoys outreach and the opportunity to ring in varying situations. This opportunity was one of several presented to the team during the 2007-2008 worship arts season. We look forward to our next season of ringing and pray God's blessings on all that we do.
