Ministry Fair 2008
The 2008 Ministry Fair is coming up on August 10 and 17 from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn about the varied and diverse ministry opportunities and groups that are available at First Church and find places that will help you grow in your faith, make new friends, and serve others in the church and community.
Who should plan to participate?
EVERYONE is invited to participate. Whether its your first visit to the church or you've been a member for years, you'll discover new and exciting places to participate.
Bring your kids and youth along, as there will be booths for them to visit. Let them see where their activities take place, get some hands on experience with some of the activities in which they can participate, and get to know the people involved with the ministries to families of children and youth!
What ministries are represented?
There will be over 65 booths showcasing ministries in the following ministry areas:
- Adult Sunday School Classes
- Fellowship Groups
- Outreach and Mission Ministries (both First Church groups as well as community groups)
- Children's Ministries
- Youth Ministries
- Classes and Spiritual Growth Opportunities (Disciples, Financial Peace University, etc.)
- Congregational Care Ministries
- Worship and Worship Arts
- Membership and General Church Info
- Communications (Newsletter, Church Directory, etc.)
Stop By the Depot before visiting the Ministry Fair
inside Building 5
Your first stop should be the Ministry Express Depot (the gazebo located between Buildings 4 and 5). There you'll find our friendly Connection Team members who can assist you in planning your trip on the Ministry Express. We have a handy little Trip Planner that helps you communicate to the Connections Team what you are interested in and enjoy. They will then provide you with a Suggested Itinerary of the booths you might like to visit. The booths will be located throughout Building 5 -- grouped by the various ministry areas. There will be signs and maps to help you locate the ministries you want to visit. With the ministry fair taking place inside Building 5, there will be no need to worry about the weather (it will be cool and comfortable) and you can take your time visiting before or after your worship service.
Special Helps for Exibitors
If you are coordinating a booth, staffing a booth or in some other way representing your ministry at the Ministry Fair, you might be in need of some of the following resources:
Register for the Ministry Fair. The deadline to register a booth is Tuesday, July 29!
Ministry Fair Resource Pack -- this PDF will provide you with all the information about how to recruit volunteers to help represent your ministry at the Ministry Fair, when to set up your booth, how to know where to set up, etc. It has been designed to help make your experience as easy as possible and answer most questions. Please read it before calling staff with a question, as you will probably find your answer in the Resource Pack.
Childcare - Children's Ministries is providing supervised activities for children whose parents are working at the fair. Because we have limited space, this childcare is intended to be used only when parents are working at the Fair and unable to schedule shifts so that both parents are not working at the same time or when a single parent is working at the fair. Once the parent's shift is over, he/she will need to pick up his/her children. If you have questions about childcare, please contact Judy Pearson at 255-3336, ext. 128 or judy@fumc-rr.org.
